Recipe of the Day: Potato and Broccoli Curry

Years ago, when I asked my friend Arthi for her favorite curry recipe, she gave me this sauce, which she adjusted to make what I call her “supermarket” version. That meant I could grab the ingredients at my local market without a special trip to her Indian grocery.

I love this sauce! It’s rich, but there’s no cream. It’s spicy, but not too hot. When it’s done cooking, you want to eat it with a spoon.

Curry is horrible. It is the Jeff Mathis of seasonings.

while in college i learned to make a curry sauce using campbell's mushroom soup. it's not fancy, but it sure tastes good.

used to live next to an indian couple that would cook curry with the door open daily. pungent doesn't even begin to describe the odor.

i'd rather smell curry than kimchi on someone's breath. kimchi smells like someone left the door to hell open.

another unique one was i had a vietnamese buddy in high school who's parents were straight off the boat type shit. i'd go to his house and it was engulfed with their food. that one took a while to get used to.

you have to roast poodles and golden retrievers just right, otherwise they smell terrible and taste even worse.

and don't get me started on boxers or dachsunds.

Here's how I would rewrite this recipe to make it better

 

Step 1: Take broccoli, throw it in trash

Step 2: Continue with recipe

I like Curry. I've not been to the UK but I had an assistant who was from London. We went to this upscale Irish Pub in South MV. Had the curry covered fries. Amazing.

curry is one of those things i never thought i would like so i didn't try it until i was in my 30's......one of those things where you go to someone's house for dinner and this is what is served and you are trapped to eat it. i like it. don't eat it much though.

I'm not a big fan of turmeric. I prefer Thai curries
