I do like how Nate Smith's starts in AAA are lined up with Alex Meyer's with the big league club. 

If Meyer F's up another start, it may be his last start as an Angel. I still think he's a better if he's pitching out of relief than as a starter.

Right now Eppler is banking on upside. It's understandable given the fact that Richards, Heaney, Skaggs and Tropeano are all on the shelf. Anyone with upside is hurt.

So Eppler is banking on his ability to create it within the rotation. That's why Ramirez is a starter now, that's why Alex Meyer is in there.

In order for the 2017 Angels to win without Richards, Skaggs, Tropeano and Heaney, they don't need innings, they need dominance, because that's the possibility those four provide.

Thats why they brought in Banuelos, Campos and Lamb. Upside. 

I don't think Nate Smith will be brought up until the Angels are either out of it or think his upside is legitimate enough to warrant it.

If they didn't want innings, they wouldn't be looking at Fister. 

If you are wiling to throw David Wright out there, why would you not want to try out Nate Smith?  

I see him as one of those guys that benefits from getting out of SLC and ends up actually being better in the majors.

You know my take on Smith -- I've been a big fan of his ability to pitch above his stuff..   He's works backwards, thinks his way through stuff...  Just a fun pitcher to watch but when his stuff plays down he has very little margin for error.

I don't think it's pure coincidence that right after news of Skaggs hit the DL, Smith moved from extended ST to AAA. 

If he was healthy I think we would have seen him already.

9-2 with a 3.33 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 78.2 innings at SLC since 2016, no bad at all for an offense happy league.
