How Long Until Revere Takes Over For Maybin

Let's see when Trout comes back if Revere is still hitting after tonight. He started the game hitting a robust .190.

Very true that neither have good numbers, but Revere seems to be finding a groove with the more playing time he has gotten.  Maybin can't say that.

Of course, that ignores the fact that it is extremely difficult to find a groove when you are always on the bench.  After three games in row, he looks way better at the plate than Maybin who looks like a deer in headlights.

How happy does that make you

Honestly Strad it makes me wonder how so many veteran players come to Anaheim and just sh*t the bed. It's like there's no pressure to perform here. Is it the stadium? Is it the manager? Is it lack of conditioning? It's certainly not the competition. The AL West is loaded with crappy teams.

Revere only has about 30 less at bats than Maybin.  So it's not like he hasn't been given a chance.

Honestly Scioscia has to figure out the role for each.  If Revere isn't incapable of being a reserve player but Maybin is ok at being a 4th outfielder, then make the switch.  But if they are both going to hit for about the same average like they are now, then you start Maybin.  Better arm, better defender, and can take a walk.

Because they are veterans that could be past their prime.  It's not like they go thrive somewhere else.  Sure a couple bounce back, but that literally happens to every team.

The ballpark has NOTHING to do with it right -- all that data that shows player after player failing to hit to their established norms in Anaheim... fake facts right?   David Ortiz, your answer to everything whenever the subject is Pujols put up a .706 OPS for his career in Anaheim.

Angel Stadium deflates offense, it's kinder to RH batters than LH ones, but overall it tends to bring hitters down some -- Naps, Arod..  there have been exceptions, but when years and years worth of data shows that most players see their offense drop in a place -- well...  smoke, fire...

Trout is an exception too. Mr. Consistency.

His BA in Anaheim is just nine points lower than on the road, OPS of .964 compared to a road OPS of .974, and only two fewer home runs in 90 fewer plate appearances in Anaheim than elsewhere. The negatives of this stadium do not affect him.

Glaus (87 HRs in 2000/2001) was another exception.   Even GA averaged nearly 30 HRs from 2000-2003.

There are a lot of guys that have done well in the park -- like I said, it tends to favor RHBs -- but there have been a few guys like Arod that saw their game elevated in Angel Stadium.   Just something about the dimensions or the way the park is built that suits their styles -- it's interesting because Arod also tended to absolutely destroy the ball hitting in KC -- a park that used Angel Stadium as it's base blueprint.

So the terms "hitters ballpark and pitchers ballpark" are just a myth?
