it's because there just aren't that many people in general that are his height.  Let alone pitchers.  Not sure the ratio of guys his height who make it is any different than guys shorter than him.  The frustrating part is that the guys could dial it back a bit and still throw 94-96 with cleaner mechanics instead of 98 flying open to 1b and dropping his shoulder every other pitch.  His delivery is high effort and doesn't need to be.  

I am not sure how being a reliever is going to help him be more consistent.

Might not but I think the ship has sailed on trying to develop him as a starter. Dude's already 27. You wanna try to get some return on the investment. Sometimes things just click for these guys when they get moved out of the rotation

Maybe.  I just don't see any chance of that after watching this guy several times now.  His stuff is great but he's literally all over the place.

Escobar keeps giving the guys behind him in the batting order the opportunity to advance him on the bases or drive him home. The guys behind him keep hitting into fielder's choices and DPs.

Yeah.  I think throwing him in the bullpen would make him a Walden or Jepsen - good velocity, terrible command.
