Glory Days of Old

Had partial season tickets back in the day right next to Gene Autrys luxury box. He looked pretty comfortable.

There are sections of the stadium that are unbearable during the summer. We could use a new stadium with more shade.

I can't go to day games anymore because I need to stay out of the sun. I got heat exhaustion once, and that was in Oakland at the game where K-Rod dropped the ball and the A's won.

Living in Bixby Knolls is going to kill me someday.

The last day game I went to at the Big A was about 15 years ago. We had field level seats along the first base side.

I swore never again..just about killed me.

I would think you could solve the shade issues with retractable awning type devices in most parts of the stadium except right field pavilion. I'm someone that runs warm, and the sun not only drains me but messes with my eyes, so while I like having seats in the 300 section, because it was less crowded, had padded seats and it had in seat service, I couldn't wait to change my seats to the 200 section.

Sitting in RF during day games is miserable. Many season ticket holders never go to day games. Oh well without derailing this nice thread I actually liked Ben Weber back in the day.

It's because they offered a parcel of land in Bixby Knolls, the hottest place on the planet in summer.

I lived in Bixby Knolls for a couple years and can verify that this is 100% correct.  In fact, the entire city of Long Beach is f*ing 10+ degrees hotter than all the other beach cities for whatever geographical reason.  But Bixby in particular, man, my last summer there we could've shot some pretty compelling scenes for Heart of Darkness, lying in pools of sweat in our tiny bungalow with no AC.

I still think Long Beach would be a great place to build a stadium, somewhere around Seal Beach, lots of freeway access, tons of people, and you could ride your bike to the stadium from Long Beach or Huntington Beach.  Sort of straddle the orange curtain, get South Bay and OC.  There were a ton of Angels fans in Long Beach.
