Alex Meyer will start for the #Angels on Friday. It's a spot start to allow everyone else an extra day. Not necessarily to replace anyone

Obviously, if Meyer pitches very well I would assume they'd find a way for him to stay

Alex Meyer will start Friday against Toronto for the Angels, pushing the rest of the rotation back.

Banuelos has better stats (small sample size)....but they really like Meyer, obviously...wouldn't be surprised to see both in the rotation at some point...

"Although Manny Banuelos (five earned runs in 16 2/3 innings) has gotten slightly better results than Meyer, Banuelos does not have options so the Angels likely couldn’t bring him up for just one game."

When and if they bring Banuelos up, I guess they need to be prepared to keep him....

I've watched Manny, and the big thing with him so far is that he seems to be walking a tight rope, similar to CJ Wilson and Hector Santiago. Like both of them, his overall numbers look fine, but actually watching him, you realize he's laboring throthh 5-6 innings.

Once he cuts down on the walks, he should be a prime candidate for promotion, should a more permanent need arise

Meyer has sat 95+ in his starts and more importantly, isn't issuing as many free passes as he did before.

Long season. This particular stretch the Angels are going through is their longest without an off day this season. It's not a bad move.

My thought too....it's not like he's a young guy who you want to be careful with....not wanting to throw him in over his head and damage his confidence....he's 27....let it rip....if he struggles, put him in the pen...

I think we are going to see this happen a bunch of times this year.  Whether with Meyer, Banuelos or maybe even Scribner.  Probably every couple of weeks.

This guy's MLB ERA is lower than any other starter we have, a mark that is certain to last at least until he faces his first batter and you guys are complaining about this move? Do stats mean nothing to you?
