My question is, why even have him? :)

Because I think anyone else you call up doesn't have options and we would subsequently lose them to waivers probably?

And even they lose him, who would care. Surprisingly, he was scheduled to start tomorrow. Now, AAA short on starters.

Daniel Wright could be a good back-end starter. He's posted good numbers before not sure why everyone is down on him.

He may have been the guy that would create the least amount of roster issues...   How much longer before Richards is eligible to come off the DL?  Five days?  My guess is they  view him as a guy that can bring up and keep around in case of a blowout so they keep the guys they do want to be able to pitch fresher...

They are already running with an extra RP due to the Richards DL move.

Guerra: 3 2/3 innings, 0 ER, 6 K's, 0 BB.

Pounders: 5 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K.

Wright: 3 1/3 innings, 9 ER, 9 H, 2 BB. Yep!

And in Pounders' last MLB start he was awful, and Wright's last MLB start was solid.

Its simple, he was the freshest SLC arm with the ability to pitch the most innings, especially with a spot start for one of our long relievers on the horizon.

Scioscia said Bailey does not believe his latest shoulder flare-up is as serious as what he faced with the Red Sox, but the Angels manager added that it's too early to say if Bailey will be sidelined for more than 10 days.

"Andrew doesn't feel this is the same scope that he had like back in Boston where it really was bothering him," Scioscia said. "But naturally, we're concerned enough to shut him down. Hopefully it won't be too long, but we want to take that first step."

Career over.

Fun fact. The Mariners called up Blake Parker last year when they had a short term need in the pen. Parker was out of options. He pitched once for them and then when they tried to send him back down he was claimed by the Yankees.

Obviously you wouldn't keep a good pitcher down just so you wouldn't lose him if you think he can really help you in the meantime, but if you only have a need of a mop up man for 4-5 days....
