The opinion seems to have changed some in recent days, but it's really too early to get a real take on the Angels thus far.

The pitching is suspect, especially the starting rotation.

In the end the Angels will go as far as the pitching allows.

you must be new here.

the knee-jerks have always been out in full force. give someone a keyboard and an emotional high or let down and you get a melody of bullshit.

Or we may see a throw in the towel for this season housecleaning of veterans for prospects like the Yankees did last season.

You have said this a couple of times.  We don't have a Chapman or Miller type to bring in that big of a return.  Calhoun would be the closest thing we could trade that would have a nice return.  This team took five years to find a left fielder, how long would it take to get a right fielder?

Yep. If one just started following the season now, and didn't know about 6-2 and those super special comebacks, one would think "6-6...about what I expected."

There's too much swing to get a good sense of this team. It isn't unlike how right now a player can go 0-5 and see his batting average drop from .300 to .265. Eppler should be considering options, but first he needs to see how the starters pan out - at least for the first month or two. As I think Billy Beane used to say, the first third of the year is to see what you have, the second third is to get what you need, and the last third is to drive to the playoffs.

Everyone except for Trout if they're not competitive after may. Simmons, Calhoun, escobar, shoemaker.

I'd be fine with that if you can get a young 3 win right fielder and a young 3-4 win short stop.  This team would need to acquire their replacements because the cupboard is bare in our minors for short stops and outfielders that are anywhere near major league ready.

Yep, FA (one starting pitcher and Moustakas?) plus continuing to build the farm is now the best strategy for this upcoming off-season, with solid payroll being removed from the books.
