Holy smokes, just looked at Bandy's stats and he has an OPS of 1.074 in 50 PAs with 4 dingers.

 

Wish we could have kept him, what a nice backup he would have made.

 

On second thought, Maldonado/Bandy would have been the reincarnation of Mathis/Napoli.

Bandy's not going to hit .348/.400/.674 this year. Not when his current BABIP is .375 and his career BABIP is .265.

Bandy doesn't have the career sample size to start saying what he will or won't do. But I've always maintained he will be a very good hitting catcher.

Yeah, Bandy has a good run when the league wasn't familiar with him but really cooled down as the season went on. With his size and the hitter-friendly parks in NL Central, he'll put up some good power numbers but that'll be about it.

Maldonado makes the Angels pitching staff better than advertised. Nice to see his bat making a solid contribution.
