Williamson responds, "If that's your position then I agree, there's nothing to talk about. She adds, "It's really amazing how you are incapable of taking a win. And the consultants you're working with haven't won anything in a decade. Good luck."

New California Gun and Ammo Tax Becomes Law: What to Know

Quote

The move (Newsom signed nearly two dozen gun control measures in one day) has stirred debate and makes California the only state to add a separate excise tax on ammunition and firearms.

Quote

The new California tax is an additional 11% excise on the purchase of guns and ammunition sold in the state beginning July 1, 2024.

Do their guns require ammo? If so then they have to pay the tax

Lol, we have had background checks to buy ammo for the past few years and they still get it.

They will continue to buy their guns and ammo through states with lax gun laws.

So, then you agree this law is directed at regular civilians? That's pretty shitty.

All laws are directed at regular civilians. That does not mean that we should live in a lawless society.

We know who is committing gun crime. Why not have the laws target those individuals. They have enhancement charges for gun related crime, but they never enforce it. What is a handgun roster and excise tax going to do to lower crime? Anyways, taxing a right like that is bullshit.

They should do that. Of course increasing penalties for committing crimes does nothing to reduce the amount of guns and ammunition on the street. We have to remember that laws and policies have to be viable within the context of our political system. Dems would love to ban guns entirely and Reps would love to have no restrictions at all. These laws represent compromise positions that no one particularly likes.

The ability to own a gun may be a right, but that does not shield you from being taxed.

But they already were taxed.

As a general sales tax, yes. But a separate tax to fund another virtue signaling government agency that will have no impact on gun violence...

Well, you can say Newsom employed people.

What would you do to reduce gun violence specifically?

This isn’t hard. You incarnate younger, longer, and not in these prisons today. Prison is going to be long and undesirable.. Bring back the death penalty with a more streamlined approach. Let these gangsters see their homeboys executed in the street.
The left is all about executing innocent babies because one day they’ll be criminals. The far thing to do is give everyone a chance an execute the criminals  We act like gun banning is the only solution  these kids are fighting in school, shop lifting, and flashing weapons on social media long before they kill. These kids are out there breeding and playing adult games  it’s time to adjust the consequences accordingly

We also start teaching morals , traditional families, stop teaching victim hood, and hate. Our killers are increasingly younger and hate filled. They’re also increasingly black and queer. We’ve filled their heats with hate under the guise of pride. We need to start teaching them to respect God, family, and country. I’m not saying everyone has to be Christian but these kids will accept that stealing and killing are wrong or be severely punished. Also the queers need to understand that their lifestyle are unhealthy though not illegal. However they will be taxed and pay insurance premiums to reflect their choices.

I would lock up the people that are committing the majority of gun crimes. Do that for a few years and see how it works.
