Same can be said for all the great pitchers and aces out there, Doc.

He's got a solid fastball (93-94 MPH) that he locates well to go along with a fantastic curve & splitter.

Parker needs to buy whoever taught him to throw that splitter a beer.

not sure about that Chuck.  A lot of great pitcher are great because of their fastball.  Parker's is kinda straight and 94.  I'm not finding much history of him throwing a split.  They mention he had one last year and it's been noted that his out pitch in the minors was his curve.  So it might be Nagy showing it to him.

The thing is, you can get away with a straight 93-94 MPH fastball and freeze hitters when they know there's a curveball or sharp splitter that looks like a fastball coming. It's in the back of their mind.

He seems to get a lot of called third strikes with his fastball, so I'm wondering if his release and arm action is the same for his other two pitches causing some serious issues for opposing hitters.

I feel like release point has been a huge thing for Nagy since he's been here.

If I'm being completely honest, I'd say this is just one of those Spring Training performances that happen every year, and just seem to fade as the calendar turns to April. Parker's arsenal doesn't strike me as anything more than middle reliever material. He's got an alright fastball to go with an alright offspeed pitch. He's been good in the major leagues before, but never dominant.

My hope is that he's found something that works for him, one that he can just continue to go to and hitters just can't seem to do anything with. We certainly need it. Our lineup will score, our defense will prevent, our starters will offer us quality, but the bullpen has to shorten games and keep us in them. Beyond Bedrock, we're going to need to get lucky with guys like Ramirez, Norris, Petit and Parker.

Solid looking pen, given what we had to work with. The depth of this year's team compared to last year's is an ocean of difference.

Definitely. I think the pen was built by Eppler to match the rotation we have. For example, if Tropeano, Heaney, Richards, Shoemaker never got injured, we'd be comfortable rolling with a group of one inning specialists because our starters could go 7 innings a night and 200 a year.

But the rotation as it stands will likely be closely monitored, and held to 6 innings or 100 pitches a night. This means there are a lot innings the bullpen will need to cover. So yo need guys like Ramirez, Petit and Norris to be able to cover two innings a piece. Furthermore, we'll need more AAA depth and thankfully Eppler built that with Meyer, Smith, Banuelos, Pounders and Campos.

This dude's spring has been bizarre. He's definitely making the team at this point....just hope that this is actually legit and he ends up becoming a pretty significant surprise to this pen.

The thing is that Parker has been excelling down in the Minors for a while. This isn't entirely new although he has taken it to another level this Spring.

The weirdest thing is that in 15 years every white MLB player will be named Blake Parker or Parker Blake.

We feel marginalized by your cruel words.

A lot of pro golfers live in their RV's. I passed  up a herd of them on the freeway towing their crew cab trucks with a golf cart in the bed of the truck. I'm thinking it was senior tour players.

The secondary PGA tour, and even the lower level PGA guys do that.  In Horse racing, you will see a lot of RV's in the parking lot for jockeys.  Really, both sports, if you don't win or do well, you are really struggling to make a buck.  I believe I think it was Bubba Watson was living out of his car for a year, driving from tour stop to tour stop.

12.96 K/9, 2.16 BB/9, 27% K%-BB%, 3.24 ERA (one bad outing), 0.72 FIP (!!!!), 1.88 xFIP (!!!!), over 8.1 IP (small sample but very convincing)! Improved velocity even if you account for the radar gun changes this season.

Between him, Bedrosian, and Alvarez you have a really nice back-end bullpen group. This was a clean peanut gone right so far!

A real bright spot on this team. He's got closer stuff.
