EPA To Alaskans In Sub-Zero Temps: Stop Burning Wood To Keep Warm

Recommended Posts

obviously this is something that should be reviewed.  They shouldn't be treated punitively for surviving.  I gotta wonder tho, just how many people are living in frigid AF rural ass Alaska ?

The overall mission of the EPA is a noble one, even if this small group is getting a stiff shake (and it should be corrected)

"The problem is, there’s no replacement for wood-burning stoves in Alaska’s interior. Heating oil is too expensive for a lot of people, and natural gas isn’t available. So they’ve got to burn something. The average low temperature in Fairbanks in December is 13 degrees below zero. In January, it’s 17 below. During the coldest days of winter, the high temperature averages -2 degrees, and it can get as cold as -60. This is not a place where you play games with the cold. If you don’t keep the fire lit, you die. For people of modest means, and especially for the poor, that means you burn wood in a stove—and you keep that fire lit around the clock."

What would the EPA have Alaskans do, use solar panels to heat their homes in winter?

LOL.  And you know.  There is a bunch of SJW's out there saying that's what they should do.

It's only a matter of time before your bbq will be illegal.

Before I left CA (So pre-2009) I chatted the management of the Bear Pit BBQ in Mission Hills. They said that they couldn't remodel because their smokers were grandfathered in and they would lose them if they did.
