got a look at the course for the us open this week. 7700 yards! there are three par 5s that are super long - one is 593 yards, another is 607 yards, and #18 is crazy, like around 650 yards. should be fun to watch. whoever hits long and straight is going to have a big advantage this week.

I have passes for Saturday and Sunday but the weather is supposed to be pretty shitty so I might not.

I've been playing it on one of my computer golf games for a while now. The fairways are pretty generous, as far as width, and there are no trees. Keep it in the fairways and you can score, play like Mickelson and you might shoot 90. You know thats why he's not playing in this, his daughters graduation is an excuse. No miracle trick shots out of pine straw or through the bushes this Open..if you miss the fairway farther than 2 -3 feet, you take unplayable.. IF you can find it.

This will be a tough one for fantasy players..no course history and stuff. The Big 4 or 5 ...none are playing exceptionally well. 

Pretty much of a toss up.

Thunderstorms in the forecast most of the weekend and even when not storming it is going to be really humid.

Should be pretty damn windy too.  It is probably 40 minutes from the lake so maybe not as windy as here but still going to be shitty conditions.

at 7700 yards, you're gonna need to drive long and extremely straight to win this thing.

 

why the usga thinks rough needs to be 18 inches tall is frustrating. you want to penalize players for bad shots? make them play the muni where i played yesterday. tree stumps, bald patches, sand as hard coal diggers butt, goose crap all over - playing through that and hitting good shots is more impressive.

i liked seeing kyle stanley's reaction when being interviewed after the win. among other things, this victory gets him into the british open.
