There are evil dictators all over the world.  I get it is nice to think about doing something about it but history has not been kind to the times when the U.S. has intervened.

Yep, it doesn't seem like anything the U.S. could do right now would help resolve the situation. Both sides are now tainted by evil agendas. I think the best response is to help Syrian refugees however we can, whether or not they're in the U.S.

I don't think there was ever anything we could do about it.  Getting involved with that stuff never seems to work.  Even if it was completely altruistic (which it never is).

I don't disagree, mind you. In fact, part of my concern on Saddam way back when was the clear power vacuum that could have (and did) get filled by something arguably worse.

The war is over in Aleppo and people are celebrating. Assad and Russia are pushing east while Iran and Iraq are pushing west. Pretty soon ISIS will be wiped off the map.

The shit show in Turkey though.  If Erdogen doesn't kiss some major Putin ass, that show can go south quick.  They could be looking at Russia on one border, the Kurds on another, ISIS doing their rogue thing, with Iran looking to jump in.  Although, if i remember right, Trump was also thinking that NATO wasn't needed.  I wonder if this is the reason why?
