Think the Giants have too much rotation question marks and not a dire enough payroll situation to shed him for Escobar. Only way I'd see that working would be if we flipped them Skaggs/Shoemaker as well. We'd get more of a sure thing, they'd get someone younger and cheaper with potential to replace him. We'd rid ourselves of Escobar. We'd take on a ton of salary in Shark, Turner, and Valbuena though.

Was thinking more along the lines of David Robertson, Darren O'Day, Tony Sipp, Homer Bailey, James Shields...

You think the Giants have rotation question marks?

Bumgartner

Cueto

Moore

Samardizja

Cain

Peavy

Suarez

and in the minors

Beede

Suarez

Coonrod

Gregorio

Blackburn

They are just fine rotation wise. And I'd heard they were interested in Escobar last deadline. Don't know why.

That's a great #1-4. Why would they subtract from it and rely on filling two spots from any of these guys below?

Cain 5.64 ERA in only 17 starts
Peavy now a free agent, had a 5.54 ERA in 21 starts
Suarez - average in AAA and majors. Looks like a swingman more than a rotation fixture. only 12 starts - (notable, was an Angels farmhand in '15)

and in the minors
Beede - hasn't pitched past AA
Suarez - struggled in AA in only 19 starts
Coonrod - hasn't pitched past AA
Gregorio - 5.28 ERA, 1.44 WHIP in 21 AAA starts, no MLB experience
Blackburn - wasn't terribly exciting in AAA last season, no MLB experience

They might have been until they acquired Nunez. If they're lucky, one of those minor league arms will be pushing for a rotation job by July, but that'd be a best case scenario. Way too early for them to be concerned with Samardzija's salary.

Will be interesting to see who wins the job out of ST, or how much they split time between him and Perez.

it doesn't matter Perez wins the job, Bandy will play once he goes on the DL.

and he WILL go on the DL
