Who am I? .270/.352/.532 with 18 HR (Positions: 2B, SS, 1B, 3B, OF)

I wouldn't be against signing him considering how thin we are, especially if we do commit to Marte in LF and Cowart at 2B, but I can easily see him falling right back to a UT who barely scratches a .700 ops, which would still have some value to this team, but probably not enough to justify his contract. Petit and Pennington aren't that far off from what SRod's been over his career once 2017 contract is factored in.

Be interesting to see what he gets this offseason - a utility player contract, or will someone bite and give him an everyday job?

Stephen Drew and Kelly Johnson were both connected to the Angels this offseason too, and both are FA's:

Stephen Drew in 62 G, 136 PAs: .275/.338./542/.880 and a 129 OPS. 7 HRs and 17 RBIs, playing second, third, and short. Worth .6 WAR according to BBRef.

Kelly Johnson was terrible in 49 games and 132 PAs with the Braves, but in 75 games and 189 PAs with the Mets: .267/.328/.465/.793 with a 112 OPS, 9 HRs, and 23 RBIs playing all over IF/OF. Worth 1.3 WAR as a Met.

Not advocating signing either of them, just offering up two other bargain players who we pursued who probably match up well with SRod's production, but will get far less of a contract.

Also another example of Eppler having a good eye at recognizing rebound players.

In case you're wondering, he put up a .225/.297/.372 line in 7 years in the AL and was coming off a .246/.281/.362 season last year.   This season seems like an outlier

1. In the NL.

2. Getting a chance of semi regular ab's.

3. Sven hates our own prospects.

4. SRod wouldn't come back to rot on the bench.

5. Career Year

Rodriguez got 167 at bats in 59 games as a rookie....   He's at 267 at bats through 130 games this year...    Basically Sven McGrinch gave him more playing time (ABs per game) than he's been getting in Pitt.   Surprised me too.

Geeesh..... Freese, Rodriguez, Joyce...    C.J Cron is a trade to Pitt away from an MVP season....

Wait. Maybe I'm not understanding this, but it seems like you're saying that you think a nearly .200 point jump in OPS from the year before and .160 jump from his previous career high isn't sustainable?

This thread almost inspired me to start a thread titled: Who am I? Living in a van, down by the river

Answer: Brandon Wood.

But that would've been mean, so I didn't.

I still don't understand how someone named Richard Brandon Wood didn't try the adult film industry..
