There are purple people out there?

Seriously, this is what racist people say.  They invent colors of people that don't exist to show they're not racist.  "I'd feel the same way about chartreuse people if they did that!"

I'm not saying you're racist, but you're saying what racist people say.  And I doubt Rico was oppressed by your statement.  Saying that does make you something of an asshole, though.  You like to assume you upset somebody, and that's something an asshole does.

No, you didn't upset me.  Pointing out flaws doesn't mean I'm upset.  It just means I'm pointing out flaws.

Does it help me or count against me if I tell you my closest friend is Mexican?

I'm not sure how the rules work.

He is taking a stance against people that are protesting racial profiling and brutality by police.  It's racist.  Do you need a safe space?

He said this country oppresses people of color. That is ridiculous.

Police culture in general needs significant reform because it sucks for everyone and it is even worse for blacks. Same with the criminal justice system. That is different than being oppressed by this country.

Kap has changed his message a bit to reflect that but his initial statement is the type of thinking that holds back an entire population of people more so than the injustices they face.

Just because people are critical of Kap doesn't mean they are racist.

I could understand the stance of saying "I don't agree with the way Kaepernick is protesting."  I believe that is the stance several people in this thread have taken, and that is fine.  But take Cruz's quote and the use of "spoiled rich athlete" he is clearly trying to belittle the man.  He is taking it a step further from simply not agreeing with Kaepernick, to trying to trivialize his cause.  IMO it is no longer just being critical of the man, but flat out racist considering what Kaepernick's cause is.

So anytime someone is overly critical in your mind, it's racist?

I didn't agree with Bernie on absolutely everything. Particularly the racism stuff. I think BLM is cancer. If I thought different before I don't remember, and if I did I was wrong.

And no it's not a bullshit answer, because everyone does truly get offended at everything. Everyone is so quick to jump to racism where there is none. Rico is exhibit A here.

You missed the point.  It wasn't about Bernies politics, but you were arguing for something you though would make this country better.  Kaep is doing the same, he just has a bigger audience than a bunch of dipshits on a message board.

No, I want the opposite of a space space. I want people to be free to say what they want. I support Kaepernick's ability to protest, but his reason is stupid as hell, because I think racism is so minimal it's crazy compared to previous generations. If you can't take that because you think it's racist then sack up and get the F out, find somewhere less racist.

You are a ****.

Who are you to belittle what someone else is going through?

Oh please.

I was addressing the implication of country wide oppression as if it's some huge issue. Outside of very few spread out crazies, you'll only really find real racism is small parts of the south where the whole "we don't serve you n*****s here" is found.

Compare this to the MLK days and it's quite polarizing. IMO, MLK is rolling in his grave over his people's attitude.

I have a black friend, he drives a newish Silverado.  Nothing too fancy.  He told me the other day he gets pulled over roughly once a month.  He doesn't get a ticket, they just tell him his vehicle "fit the description."

Now I've never been pulled over in my life.  So I'm thinking he must be a terrible driver, or something else must be going on here.  There are many ways to oppress people.
