Angels haven't been 22 games under .500 since the end of 1999.  That nugget just dribbled from the mouth of Roger Lodge. Interim Manager Joe Maddon presided over the end of that season.

Roger also noted how poorly the slumping Angels hitters have played in August. Sounds to me less like tanking and more like having checked out until February.

It was a very good play ... but nothing to write home about.

Right now Cowart is just another good field no hit prospect.

He'll have to prove he can hit ML pitching if he's to stay.

That just showed why, while he has less power, Cron is a better hitter than Trumbo.

Yes Escobar has been a very good leadoff hitter for us, which is why I didn't mention his bat in a negative light.  It is also why I advocate putting him in left field so his bat, his only skill set, can stay in the game.

Escobar has played nearly every day and is only worth 1.4 WAR. It's crazy how much people overrate him.

That WAR stuff doesn't account for the fact that he's the best lead off hitter we've had in years.

It's not overrating him as you suggest..it's a fact!
