That was great, thanks for the link.  Maybe my favorite movie of all time. Cleavon Little was the best.

To be honest, I thought the weakest parts of the movie were the Mel Brooks scenes.

Great article! I always wondered why Richard Pryor wasn't in it, given that he was a writer.

Mell Brooks is just such a classic.

Besides movies Mel Brooks was also a successful comedy writer for TV partnered with Carl Reiner. He was also the co-creator of Get Smart which I'm a huge fan of the TV series with Don Adams.

Mel was also a writer on Your Show of Shows, starring Sid Caesar, in the 50s. Other writers for the show included Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, and Woody Allen.
