There's a documentary called Being Canadian that talks about how it is frowned upon in Canada to be rude or say anything offensive about anyone. They are a very polite people...to a fault, apparently.

Or politics. When I last spent time with my Newfoundlander cousins, they spared no scorn when it came to their political leaders, whether it was provincial or national. And don't mention Quebec.
