The Mets are "monitoring" Joe Smith

Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that the Mets are "monitoring" Joe Smith, Chris Withrow and Jeremy Jeffress.

The Mets have been connected to Jeffress previously, but Smith's and Withrow's names are new as the club seeks relief help. Smith, who began his career with the Mets, has had a down season with a 4.36 ERA and 24/13 K/BB ratio over 33 innings, but that might mean the Mets can get him at a discount.

great.

get some pitching prospects -- we're not getting any major leaguers in this deal........

what's Granderson's contract?  Maybe they'll dump him or make him a rental for Halos - MLB throw in? -- he has something left -- part time LF next year?

remember when we got out-bid for him?

The Angels need some of those guys who sell the knock off stereos or sunglasses at the mall. I would buy anything they sell if only to get them to stfu. "Joe Smith for sale, has Mariano Rivera guts bro, come on best price"

No no no! Es Sony guts, bro. Es Sony guts! Es a good deal!

The Mets view Joe Smith as a low cost buy low setup RP.

Names to match up in trade are Wilmer Flores who could play 3B enabling an Escobar trade or be a super utility IF.  They  undervalue him & tried to trade him last year at the deadline.  He started to cry on the field when fans told him he was traded and the rest is history.

Their top 2 prospects are AA Rosario SS & Smith 1B.  Nimmo can play LF Cecchini MI can hit but 28 errors mostly throws @ SS.  They have low level quality pitching and I am familiar with the better names.

Can't believe there is a market for either Smith or Street.....not unless we take on most of their contracts, which would be stupid....

The reason we'd trade him is to shed his payroll, so I don't think that's a possibility
