Military Coup underway in Turkey?

Recommended Posts

Reports: Turkish military 'fully seizes' control of country

Still conflicting reports about whether it succeeded or not.  This was a lol though.

Quote

The military said it seized control "to reinstall the constitutional order, democracy, human rights and freedoms, to ensure that the rule of law once again reigns in the country, for the law and order to be reinstated."

Oddly enough...depending on details not known by us at the moment...there might be some truth in that

Current Turkish political leadership is becoming increasingly authoritarian and theocratic...wonder how much of that played into the military attempting to overthrow the government.

I would say a lot

if you're the president of a country and have to use FaceTime to get your message out, I'd have to say that you're days are numbered.

How much of a piece of shit must you be?  Your country is in a coup.  And NATO, your allies, say, let's see how this plays out.  Heck, even the U.S., who has military bases in the country, has a statement of shelter and place to it's citizens.  But nothing to denounce or support.

Amazing but true, and it could only happen on Facebook. In one of the aviation forums that I frequent, a guy with a flight scheduled to Turkey within the next few days wanted to know if this would affect flights. If I were considering a trip to a place where the government could be overthrown, my first question wouldn't be whether the airport was still open.

Happens every other month in Fiji.
