Or it's a trade sending a 3rd string catcher who was pretty redundant here to a situation where he can play at least temporarily, and getting a guy to fill a spot on a minor league roster.

We traded a AAA catcher signed during spring for bullpen depth.  Delarosa was a similar move and that has worked out fine. 

 

I'm sure it was between him and Mariano Rivera or any other established closer as they are so readily available at this point in the season.
