yea completely different situation with the Ducks.  I'm sure we'll all discuss that a lot in the offseason tho.

San Jose has the guys you noted plus Burns worth trying to fast track a rebuild to compete with but its gonna be tough because their farm system sucks.  Like, its fucking terrible. The good news for them I guess is that they can probably be pretty creative this offseason with all the expansion draft craziness thats gonna be going down.  They really cant put off restocking the farm for much longer tho.  Pretty much, they gotta figure out how to replace Thorton and Marleau while somehow improving their mediocre development system and then have maybe a 3 year window max to win their cup.  If they cant manage it (and its fucking tall order in a super tough west) they're looking at pretty lean times.  Not an easy gig for the San Jose front office.

Yeah Burns would net them alot of prospects and picks. I suspect a Canadian eastern team will try to get him. Toronto for example would look good with Burns.

rough game.  bottom line, they got a 5 on 3 goal and the game winner was fucking weird.  The D let him get too deep into the zone unchallenged and they got a lucky bounce.  I thought that for much of the game we played a better game then the oil did.  Too bad it doesn't matter much.  Giving them those chances will kill us.  Gotta clean it up for friday.  Carlyle said it well in the post game comments.  We weren't gonna go undefeated the rest of the season.  This ones out of the way, win on Friday and we're in good shape.

Oh, and a nice effort tonight Vladdy.

This game kinda felt like they were on the other side of the Cargary series, lots of unnecessary penalties which led to a couple of goals and an unlucky bounce for the game winner.

oh and about them not going undefeated, yeah while that may be true, losing Game 1 on home ice is not ideal way to get the monkey off the back

The stupid penalties have to stop.

Also Manson was utter garbage last night, not because of the goal off his skate, because he was all over the place and never where he should have been.  Need Vatanen back to take his spot, Edmonton is super mobile.

Penalties killed the Ducks last night. Winnable game and the Ducks shit the bed with dumbass penalties. Like they said on the broadcast, only so many times can you poke the Edmonton PP bear before they strike.

More salt on the wound.. The Ducks have failed to win a Series when trailing dating back to the Cup season 2006-07 when they beat Detroit after falling down 1-0 and 2-1 in the series. Ugh...

Not throwing in the towel just yet but damn. I really hope this team has some fight in them.

I'm fine with this game. Ducks thoroughly outplayed them, especially in 5on5. We just gotta stay out of the box if our PK is gonna play like pee wees. We are missing Vatanen on that front.

But 16-1-3 in our last 20 I'll take it. We hadn't lost since first week of March, we were due for some unlucky bounces. That 5 on 2 was hilarious, and the last goal was a total fluke. No biggy. Those are the bounces that went our way in the series vs calgary, it's playoff hockey.

McDavid was a non factor, but they wouldn't shut up about him. I'm amazed the broadcasters were able to call the game while at the same time blowing him. Impressive.

Just off the top of my head I can remember 2 series LA and Nashville in which they lost the first 2 at home only to win the next 3 and then lose in game 7. So even though they didn't win those they did come beck to take the lead

I take the blame for the loss guys.  I joined a friend last minute in Vegas since he wanted to go to a convention.  So was at Legasse stadium watching the game, instead of my normal place in front of my tv.  And on top of that, I bet on the Ducks.  Like that alone is the kiss of death.

Although, funny story.  Some Canadians were watching the game, so of course they are rooting for Edmonton.  Edmonton up 3-1 in the third, so they get up to leave.  I comment on why not watch your team win.  And they say they got it in the bag.  I had to remind them about what happened to the Flames.  Unfortunately, we didn't pull it off, since I ran into them later in the casino.

A loss is a loss. That's why I don't count those 2 series. They still blew it.

My point was more about the team having fight. As evident by those series, the past years they did have fight, the problem has been closing the deal.

Not even watching the game tonight. Everyone here in Utah is all excited about the Jazz not sucking for once in the past 15 years so I've decided to watch their game over the for sure Anaheim Flames loss tonight. Literally a 0% chance they win. Complete overmatch.

Jinx's are real man.  So either I jinxed the Ducks from not watching the game at the normal place.  Or you jinxed the Ducks by chiming in pre game when they weren't losing.  We shall see who the bigger jinx was tonight.
