Because managers are more patient than fans, and he plays good defense at a position where it is vital to do so, that's why.

See a lot of stuff being dumped on Carlos. Yes, .173 ain't such a nice number, especially when contrasted with Soto's .308 in a few fewer games. But Soto won't be back for awhile. And Perez turned in a .250 over 89 games in 2015. His eight years in the U.S. minors covered 555 games and he hit .280 with a .760 OPS. He turns 26 about the time the next World Series ends. So I give Carlos, at this point, the benefit of the doubt about the .173. He could make that .220 over a good week. Besides, he can throw people out and pick people off.

So I was watching those promos during recent games about that Trout giveaway tonight. They only showed photos, but it looked like the Trout figure actually moves up and down along the "fence." Windup? Or battery?
