I have been a baseball fan for many, many, years, and usually this kind of statement can be translated to mean exactly the opposite in reality.

When GM's, managers, owners, agents, and players say stuff like this....it usually means the wheels are turning, or something is already in the works. 

I've seen it happen too many times to take anyone at their word when it comes to player transactions.

Or he likes being in So Cal, likes his teammates and likes the organization.  Perhaps he likes the coaching staff or perhaps he likes where in lives.  Maybe he wants to follow in Jeter's foot steps and play for one team his entire career and has the maturity to understand there are ups and downs in an organization.
