Nate said it best. He's pretty much exactly what Simmons is. A great glove (minus some of Simmons' range) and a below average bat.

On May 10, I think the Angels still have a shot at a decent or even good season. It all depends on who does what and when. Ryan last played in 100 games 3 years ago. He's cruising toward 35 in a few months. He was batting .263 at Syracuse this season. He's not a Simmons replacement.

I'm ok with this. He is better than Pennington with the glove and it gives the infield some depth. I know the quick reaction is to piss on the trade but the Angels really needed that role filled and our minor leagues did not have that player.
