i've said it before and i'll say it again now, WAR is close to a complete bs statistic. fWAR is a bs statistic.

 

i'm all for metrics, and then some, but WAR? what is it good for? absolutely nothing. 

 

 

 

 

ps: just in case you missed it. i dropped the "i'll say it again" in the beginning.

 

 

my point is, if all loney can do is hit for average, get on base, and field very well, then is there not a place for him on our bench?

i'm not advocating that the halos sign him, but i can't really think of a team that doesn't need a player who hits for a decent avg., gets on base, and fields well.

Took awhile to get to your point... I don't see how anyone can say Loney gets on base or fields well. He hits for an OK average, but he doesn't walk a lot. He's above average defensively, for a first basemen
