Current Detroit team as bad as their 2003 team?

Impressive first rebuild step, going from 51-57 on August 4 to 9-29 (after today) since then

And some think the schedule advantage isn't hugely in the Twins' favor?   I would say that 7 of your remaining 17 games coming against a AAA team, and already being up two games on the Halos, would constitute said advantage.

16-4 now. Avisail Garcia: 5-5, HR, 7 RBI

ERA's of Detroit's pitchers today, 6.42, 4.68, 6.23, 13.50, 11.37, 13.50

The White Sox need to score that many runs to guarantee a W for Shields.

edit to add: Victor Alcantara did his part by only giving up 3 ER in his one inning of work.

Watching the Cubs game. Top of the fourth, two outs, 3-2 count with a man on third and Lackey throws a hanging curve ball, belt high center of the plate. The batter doesn't swing and the umpire call ball four.

Lackey stomps off the mound yelling at the umpire and to his credit the umpire held up his hand and said no more but Lackey is not going to let it go and probably listed the umpires geneology in the primate world before getting tossed.

End of story? Nope, the Cubs catcher gets into it with the umpire and gets tossed and to double down on stupid he throws his mask at the umpires feet that will result in a suspension and fine. He completey melted down and had to be separated.

Best catcher meltdown I remember was Torrealba losing it against the Angels when Trout scores on a sac fly.

That ump sucked for both sides today...and it was a horrible call that cost runs in a crucial game. The batter (opposing pitcher) was walking to the dugout, resigned to striking out, when the ump called the pitch a ball. It was completely ludicrous. Pitch trax showed the pitch right over the heart of the plate.

That said.. the Cubs have scored like 50 runs in the previous 3 games, and won again today comfortably. The offense is en fuego.

Still...it was really entertaining to see Lackey melt down!
