D-Backs beat the Dodgers in the bottom of the 12th inning, 2-1. Dodgers left 15 men on base.

Buster Posey homered in the top of the 11th in San Diego to put SF ahead by a run, but the Padres now have runners on 2nd and 3rd with nobody out in the bottom of the 11th.

Jake had 3 really shaky starts..that's why he declined to pitch in the ASG and took 9 days off instead.

Looking forward to the matchup tonight.

Also there are rumors that the Cubs are looking to trade for bullpen help before the deadline. Andrew Miller's name has come up, along with Kyle Schwarber. That one might not happen, but look for them to add a top-of-the-line arm or maybe even two.

Chapman for the playoff run? (he a FA in 2017)

Do they have a sister we can try out in LF?

Their 3rd brother, Justin, is in the M's minor league system .... not anywhere near their level though.

Without judging him off one start (which is silly), that was a very strange trade for the Red Sox.

There are a shitload of Giants fans in Boston

"Let's Go, Giants!" ringing throughout Fenway is beautiful.

SF fans really travel. I've been to games, and spent  rain delays in a few stadiums where the Giants just happened to be playing and was amazed at how many fans were on the road following that team.

It's always a fun group, too.

Maybe it's a hold-over from their wasted youth and Grateful Dead days?

Cubs Acquire (Mariners) LHP Mike Montgomery For Dan Vogelbach, Paul Blackburn

The Cubs were known to be in the market for a left-handed reliever, and today they made a deal to acquire Mike Montgomery and a "Triple-A Starter" from the Seattle Mariners for DH Dan Vogelbach and pitcher Paul Blackburn. There are reports that there may be more to this trade than just that, but that is the deal as we know it now.

Montgomery, 26, was a former top prospect in the Royals and the Rays organization, where Joe Maddon became familiar with his work. He was traded to the Rays as part of the James Shields deal and he went to Seattle in exchange for Erasmo Ramirez in 2015. He was a starter in 2015 to mixed results, but has pitched mostly out of the bullpen this season. He's been terrific in the pen, posting a 2.34 ERA in 61.2 innings. He's struck out 54 batters and has shown good control with only 18 walks. He's been especially deadly on left-handed hitters, holding them to a .164 batting average and a .269 OBP.

Montgomery is under team control until 2022 and is not arbitration-eligible (assuming the rules on that don't change in the next CBA) until 2019. His youth and years of team control were undoubtedly a big factor in the Cubs interest in Montgomery

Also..Joe Nathan (TJ Surgery) is coming back from his rehab assignment probably Saturday.
