Harper with another 4 walks today. Teams are pussies for not challenging him.

Seeing how he's batting .256 and has more Ks than hits, it appears that some pitchers are challenging him

The home plate ump for the Padres/Dodgers game REALLY wants to go home. Just called an obvious strike a ball with runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs in the bottom of the 11th.

Chin-Hui Tsao (who???) walked three straight batters and the Padres won.

With a little help from the ump.

Two straight walk-off losses for the Dogs.

Jim Brown was the ultimate going out in his prime, leaving the NFL after just 9 seasons and rushing for over 1,500 yards in a 14 game season in that 9th and final season.   Barry Sanders was close, retiring after his 10th season where he rushed for almost 1,500 yards in a 16 game season.

Ted Williams was 41/42 when he retired.   Elway played for some 16 seasons in the NFL.

Babe Ruth put up a .985 OPS in his 22nd season, at the age of 39. The following year (with the Braves) he fell apart, though he smashed three home runs in one of his final games, retiring at the end of May.

Dipoto's new team just keeps on rollin'. 5-4 over the woeful Reds.

If the Angels lose today (and a 6-0 lead is no sure thing), we could be 7.5 back, despite sweeping three games from them a week ago.

5-1 Road Trip. 18-7 on the Road. Took 2 out of 3 from the Royals, Rays and Orioles .... and shamefully swept by you all. 9 games above .500 .... 1 game back of best record in AL.

And in comes Oakland, Twins and Padres.

There aren't a ton of holes in this Mariners team. Wade Miley has been serviceable. Leonys Martin has been steal of the century from Texas. Iannetta has been serviceable. Nick Vincent and Cishek have been good in the bullpen.

I can't really be pissed at Dipoto for anything.

If you guys could sweep the Rangers I would deeply appreciate it.

I'm not sold, either, but it's a little reductive to frame it like that.

Besides the sweep at your hands, the M's haven't lost another series in well over a month.

M's and Halos both start playing better teams next month. That's when things'll get interesting.

Mariners SOS is .487.   They have played 15 out of 43 games .vs teams over .500 -- three .vs teams leading their division.   The Angels SoS is .514 -- they have played 32 of 44 games .vs teams over .500 including 15 games .vs teams leading their divisions.  Not a lot of similarity there.

To the Ms credit, they have been beating up the teams they should be beating.   The Halos...  not so much...
