I made the mistake of checking out some of the stats on the Dodgers position players last night. The numbers they are putting up are amazing. We have 2 guys with OPS over .800. They have about 3/4 of their lineup higher than our 3rd best guy. And they have the pitching best starting pitcher in the game (despite his injury) and the best closer.. Sigh.

Brewers acquire 2B Walker, cash from Mets

The New York Mets have sent second baseman Neil Walker and cash to the Milwaukee Brewers for a player to named later.

Walker had been scratched from the lineup 10 minutes before the start of the Mets' 3-1 loss to the Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday.

Milwaukee's second-base contingent, which consisted primarily of Jonathan Villar and Eric Sogard, ranks last in the league with a .672 OPS going into Saturday's game.

Walker, 31, hit .264 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs in 73 games with New York this season. He has a career .272/.339/.437 slash line over nine seasons with the Pirates and Mets. New York acquired Walker from Pittsburgh in a trade for pitcher Jon Niese in December 2015.

My God ESPN has become a total joke...  This is actually the second story on their MLB page right now...

"Judge's slump doesn't affect BP.

Even though he may be in a slump, Aaron Judge still proves he can hit the ball far as he cranks a few home runs during batting practice."

I mean -- sure am glad to know that despite getting the bat knocked out of his hands Judge is still having great BP..

They let Jayson Stark go and then have stories like that -- no wonder they are fading away.

Funny, the analysts on ESPN seem to have it figured out. Opposing pitchers have determined that Judge can't lay off high fastballs, so he is getting a steady diet of them and striking out a bunch. He may eventually adapt, but so far he hasn't.

Interesting line in Game 2 of Giants-Nationals: Panda goes yard for Frisco, Howie Kendrick wins it for the Nats with a walk off grand slam in the bottom of the 11th
