Street racer kills three people and shuts down 5 freeway

Shortly after midnight. Eight vehicles involved. Three killed, and the freeway shut down all day long, both directions.

Heartbreaking interview just now on Channel 9 with the father of a young woman who was killed in the Nissan Sentra. Four young people were on their way back to Santa Clarita from Disneyland when the UPS truck went airborne and over the median, and sheared off the top of their car.

One of the victims was the son of an LA Sheriff's homicide detective.

Yep. There are plenty of tracks this DB could have taken his Dodge Challenger to race. The 5 freeway in Commerce is probably the worst place to drive fast. It's always crowded and there is construction everywhere. So pointless.

I used to drive fast, but now I realize the hassle of not only being in an accident, but possibly injuring myself and others is just not worth it.
