Angels announce they have returned LHRP Christian Friedrich to the Rockies, citing issues with his health in a statement.

Friedrich was the guy who caused them to DFA Taylor Featherston, who wound up getting claimed by the Phillies.

It's hard to blame the Angels on this Friedrich thing. They have to trust the Rockies. They can't check him before claiming him.

It's the fact that we kept Featherston all of last season only to release him for this guy only to release this guy due to his medicals.

So we lost Featherston for nothing. Bummer. Guess we better go sign Fowler.

Bummer.  This guy actually had some potential.  

 

Losing Featherston doesn't phase me.  keeping him just because we made the mistake of having him on the 25 man all last year shouldn't be the thought process.  He's a 26yo potential utility infielder who needs another year in the minors to see if his bat can at least justify a roster spot.  

 

Or you can just spend a couple mil a season on a pennington type.

The Angels are that team that would pick a player that despite missing both his arms has potential to grow both back but then realizes too late that's medically impossible. ......But then the Cardinals sign that player & he gets an arm implant that lets him throw 97mph with dan haren type control.
