I'm a big classical fan.  It's at least 60% of my 90 gigs of music. 

 

I have just never been able to get into opera.  I enjoy the instrumental music for most great operas, but the vocals set me on edge. I still have a negative reaction whenever I hear the 3 tenors stuff, which was little more than 3 prima donnas shrieking as loud as they possibly could trying to outdo one another. Not musical at all. 

 

That video is particularly grotesque, though.

I only intentionally listened to opera once, when a friend of mine was singing lead in The Barber of Seville. He was very good (this was in college, and he went on to perform with the Houston Opera), but I didn't care for it much.

An entire opera can be a bit much to take at once but I like listening to it from time to time. Same with all the classical stuff I have. I like to put it in the background when I'm doing atuff around the house.

i have a good amount of classical music, including some opera. i went to the three tenors concert at dodger stadium in '94 and enjoyed it very much.

 

listen to whatever you like, as long as we can all agree on one thing: rap sucks.

I caught the opera in rome once. I liked it a lot more than i expected. Walked out feeling very mature

Then i went and did shots all night and tried (unsuccessfully) to take down italian chicks with spanish and american dirtbagness.

I can acknowledge the amazing instrument he had, and composers like Puccini who wrote Nessun Dorma and such are extraordinary. 

 

i just don't like listening to it.

 

It's the same with bassoon music.  I appreciate the musicianship of anybody who can play Vivaldi's or Mozart's bassoon concertos, and the composers are geniuses no matter what they write, but it's not something that i listen to intentionally. 

 

You being a Mariners fan makes total sense now .
