It's about $200k above the midpoint between the two initial submissions, but it's also $300k below the mlbtraderumors arbitration estimate.

 

Seems a fair agreement for both sides.

The only way he gets a big pay day is if he has a great year. If he has a great year our 7th inning riddle will be solved.

The Angels came up quite a ways from their initial offer of 2.35 mil.  Kole's original request was 3.9mil.  To settle at 3.4mil tells me that the Halos are interested in signing Kole to a longer term deal but don't have the cap space to do it this year.  This was a necessary concession by the Angels and a very smart move.  Say what you want about what arb means, but it's not a good thing to let it go to a hearing where the team's goal is to present evidence that devalues their player.

Am so glad we're keeping Kole. Hopefully it pays off for him next year. He's a great contributor to the team and is a text-book Halo IMO.

 

Also, playing along side Mike Trout ain't too shabby.

 

I really think he's one of the better players the Angels have had the past season or so (besides Trouty).

They are actually paying him a million more as a first year arbitration guy...  Salas is a final year arbitration guy.
