Active shooter reported at Naval Medical Center San Diego

The post on the medical center's Facebook page advised occupants to run, hide or fight.

 

 

First I've seen that option.

Many, if not most of the Navy personnel here are disarmed. Gun-free zone. Doesn't seem smart to me.

Run, hide, or fight is what they train you now to do. They stress though that fight is the VERY last option and only if it's impossible to run or hide.

Yeah, that's the DOJ's new focus. If you can, run. If you can't run, hide. If you can't do either, or if you're hiding and the perp finds you, then fight.

 

We got that training here at the local community college I work for.

to be fair, most of the navy is unarmed deployed, too

That's the same thing we are told at my college. Although an attempted mass shooting would probably never happen in Utah since law abiding residents are allowed to carry on campus and many exercise that right.

could be wrong here (too lazy to look it up), but i thought most states with open carry laws were more violent? The south sees more shoptings stat wise than california, NY, etc, and most of those states (in the south) have relaxed carry standards.
