Who else is doing Powerball?

My 25 tickets for Saturday yielded, quoting the man who sold me the tickets for tomorrow, "Nada".

I havent checked my $4 one when I bought a sandwich.

My sister won $455 dollars on hers. She just scanned it and doesn't know what combo she had or what not. Like a true degenerate she parlayed that into a bunch of $30 scratchers haha.

It sounds comical, but she always wins $600-$1000 on those things. It's getting to where it's value for her to play scratchers.

That's why I'd rather hit the 5 numbers without the PB.

Winning $610,000 after Fed taxes >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> having every dope in Timbuktu clamoring at your doorstep and your computer.

I could still pretty much retire with that.

I would be fine with enough to pay off my remaining bills and put a good sum into savings. I agree - winning the whole thing would be life altering, and not all of that would be positive. You would hear from relatives, friends and acquaintances (some of whom hadn't contacted you in decades), every charity you can think of, televangelists, any college or university that you ever attended, everyone with a sad story, freeloaders and everyone who has an investment scheme. You would also have to find a lawyer and an accountant who you could trust to help you manage all of that cash and not rip you off in the process.

For sure you would have to put together a financial team and attorneys before you even collect the money. Why spend any of the principle? You could invest the money and live off the interest.

one of the guys from shark tank was on GMA this morning and advised that once you cash the check, don't spend a thing until you receive your first interest payment. one of his partners also advised that when people come calling with their hand out, have your financial advisor be the one that deals with all of that. that way it sticks on him and (hopefully) family & friends won't be pissed at you when they get $10k instead of $1 mil. She also advised that your financial guy look them straight in the eye and say "this is all you get. don't come back asking for more."

With that much money you could afford a full time hitman to take care of people who bother you while buying your freedom if you're ever charged.

I was thinking about buying like $5 worth of tickets but then on the news they showed people standing in line buying tickets and I remembered my English last name pretty much rules me out.

People are insane. The local NBC station sent a reporter to the Powerball sales location at Primm for their 5 AM newscast. The doors were scheduled to open at 8:00. At 5:30, when they did the live feed, the line was already around the building and into the parking lot. The reporter said that she talked to two people who arrived at 3 AM, and they weren't even first in line.

Nevada needs to just join Powerball, and stop advancing the argument that a lottery hurts the casinos. Casinos can't match that potential payoff, and there is no way that the money spent on Powerball tickets by Nevada residents would have been put into a slot machine otherwise. These are not people without other gambling options.
