Piazza and Griffey elected to HOF

I agree. He was probably a victim of how many great names were on the ballot right now.

The 10 vote limit + the logjam from voters bypassing the PED guys has created this. Not saying Edmonds should be a HOFer, but it's still pretty bad that a player of his caliber gets bounced after only 1 year on the ballot.

So steroid users are now allowed into the hall, but the all time home run king is still left out.  Ridiculous.  But then again the HOF is a beauty contest so its not surprising.

If it were a beauty contest not even Steve Harvey would **** it up.

I don't think so. I think Vlad will have to wait a year or 2 on the ballot before he finally gets voted in

After looking at his numbers and awards, I agree.  For some reason, I thought his numbers were so much better.  Same with his awards.  I really thought he hit either the 3k or 500 mark, and had a few GG's.

it can't be just the suggestion of steroids that keeps a player out. bonds, mcgwire, clemens, sosa; we all know did steroids. there is a preponderance of evidence. bonds threw it in your face and told you to sit and spin while he did it, those are the two big factors that will keep him out forever.

bagwell, piazza, sheffield, even david ortiz; as far as i'm aware there is only the suggestion that they may have taken them.

Hall of fame voting is a joke. At least two deserving people got voted in. I think the whole system needs to be overhauled.

I kind of like that the Baseball Hall is the absolute very best.  Leave the really good players to the teams retired numbers/hall.  When you see the NFL, NHL, and NBA, all you need is decent numbers and a semi pulse.

How does Martinez still now not make it? ****ing seriously?

Lots of people see the DH as half a player.   What I don't get is how Mussina is struggling to get in after Glavine was a first ballot HOFer.   Guess MM should have hung around for a few years and milked the 300 wins instead of leaving baseball after a 20 win, 130 ERA+ season.

I wouldn't put Mussina into the HOF on the first ballot but he deserves to be in. But not putting the best DH of all time into the HOF is stupid IMO. They do know the DH position is in the rule book?

No, those people aren't in the HOF because sportswriters don't like assholes.

Mussina's been on the ballot every year since Glavine..   Glavine went first ballot, MM not even at 50%...     The HOF loves it's milestones.

Really not on board with you on Mussina. He really was not that great of a pitcher. Durable as hell, logged lots of innings but really led the league in nothing his entire career. I mean nothing, no stand out performances where he was unhittable, no jaw dropping seasons, just kind of an average guy for lots of years then his last five years pretty mediocre.

You would be getting into the Chuck Finley category of pitcher quality if you're voting for Mussina.

He won 10+ games the last 17 years of his career. Pretty damn good.

So he was Don Sutton without the longevity.
