The facts remain there is no way to properly do a background check on a citizenship that has little to no internal tracking of their populace. The Director of the FBI, Come, just made that exact statement, they have no database at this time for a country that they have little to no diplomatic relations with.

The concern is legitimate, but I would think an interview process can be put into place to vette the families in particular.  Maybe you're extra careful with military age males that are alone.  I have faith that this can be managed reasonably and safely.

The refugee camps in the neighboring states are just that, refugee camps. These countries have enough of their own problems with unemployment and radicalism without unleashing all the Syrians on the public. In fact, the camps are so bad that a lot of them are actually returning to Syria.
