Dave Hansen is the new Angels hitting coach

What blows my mind is how many people on here think a guy who was a good hitter will necessarily be a good coach (and vice versa). Like all the people who want Tim Salmon to become the hitting coach, or Chuck Finley to be the pitching coach. I'd venture to guess there is zero correlation between the stats a guy put up as a player and his teaching ability.

Might even be a negative correlation. Some guys are so freakishly talented that they probably had to think less about hitting or pitching than some 4A scrub who spent his entire playing career looking for an edge.

In fact you want guys who lacked the highest form of natural ability because that means they had to learn and work their butt off to play professionally.  They know what they did to make themselves useful.

I was hoping for Jim Eppard myself.  Dude did a good job and got let go.  Go figure.

He's too busy keeping track of his wife on the TV show Orange County Housewives (the current one, not the several before her).

I wonder who everyone here wanted. Nando wanted Ibanez. Anyone else have a guy they would have preferred? Hansen was the hitting coach in 2014 when Baylor was hurt and they seemed to do pretty well.

oh cool. i was about to go look up the guy who took over for baylor when he was injured. my thought when baylor was let go was that this guy would be the best option, so i came to this thread looking for that info. i was not let down. rad.
