A congrats on a great career. Will always remember Torii and his time here. Thank you for being the catalyst of the 2009 team that finally got over the Red Sox in the ALDS.

He would need at least four or five more good years.

Career WAR of exactly 50.0. The 18 center fielders in the Hall average 70.4.

353 HR, 1,391 RBI, 2,452 Hits, comes up short. There are 665 hitters with a better career OPS+.

Lol posting the WAR bullcrap ... all you needed to do is post his stats.

I didn't care for Torii when he was signed but the player grew on me and I'm thrilled that he wore the Angels uniform for five years.

Torii for third base coach!

Torii to Trout: use the whole field, be a complete hitter.

Pujols to Trout: no, pull the ball. Chicks dig the long ball. You'll win more MVPs.

I have a source that says this was how their clubhouse argument really went down. Pujols then ran to Arte for backup.

Who's your source - Jerry Dipoto?

Jerry: Let's sign Torii to a two year deal...He wants to stay here....we think he's got some left in the tank....

Arte: I think we need some star power...sign Hamilton....

So why was Jerry so upset he had to trade Hamilton?   That's been stated as one of the final nails in the coffin for Jerry.  If JD wanted no part of him in the first place -- why the rage over having to trade him?

This is just a hunch but it probably has something to do with the fact that after Arte shot his mouth off, Hamilton had practically zero trade value.

Back on topic... nothing but well wishes for Torii. He slipped a couple of times to the reporters but that's bound to happen when you're constantly being quoted. I think everyone agrees he has a good heart and was a pleasure to watch on the field. I'll never forget when he made that last catch for Weaver's no-hitter.
