What Mike Trout is doing these days

To a fault, Arte puts his stock in certain people

He gave a 10yr contract to Scioscia after he won a WS.

He paid Albert franchise money for something he did for another team.

He bought the story of a narcissistic drug addict and paid him millions.  Then he paid him to leave.

Mike Trout is the face of baseball and the most important player in franchise history.  He stands to be one of the most important players in baseball history.   The amount of money he's going to get paid is almost irrelevant.  Arte will give him the most lucrative contract in American sports history.

He has to.

Is it true that Trout wanted a 13-year contract but Arte only offered 7?

Mike Trout wanted to go very long with his contract extension -- as long as 13 years -- or as short as four, according to major-league sources.

The Angels, on the other hand, preferred to be somewhere in the middle, but ideally wanted a deal longer than six years. The final terms, of course, were six years, $144.5 million, starting in 2015.Trout, 22, gained lifetime financial security and the chance to become a free agent at 29.

The Angels gained cost certainty in Trout's three arbitration years while buying three of his free-agent years.

I think the contract was well done by Trout's agent. A lifetime of security to start, then becoming a free agent at 29. Probably the best age to be a FA since he will have a resume to negotiate from, and a future to negotiate with.

Well we all know he will never sign an extension with the Angels after drafting him after Grichuck just to keep his bonus down. Nor will he ever sign a contract extension after they lowballed him after his rookie season.

I disagree with Stradling on most things, but this one he has nailed.

Our receptionist at work, who is smoking hot btw, wants to know his situation. I told her Trout is linked to his long time girlfriend still. There's a ocean of women who'd marry this guy in a minute.

I think most of the men on this board would too.
