You have to remember, Trump is going to get Mexico to pay for the wall.  Otherwise someone like Halliburton will do it for a minimal cost.

If we had spent a small fraction of the money we've burned in Iraq on actually directly seeking out energy sources by drilling for oil ourselves and building other form of power plant (modern nuclear, wind, solar etc) the nation and economy would be far better off.

Same story with ridiculous defense contractor projects vs. Funding basic scientific research.

A few things...

1) Increasing revenue by increasing taxes on the very rich? Sounds socialistic, or at the very least democratic, to me.

Problem is the definition of 'rich' keeps dropping in nominal dollars (and really dropping in actual dollars) 'Fat cats' in California currently pay 40% in taxes for every dollar above $50k.

They need to leave marginal rates alone, bring back income averaging (so people like contractors who have highly variable income, or people who make an occasional windfall don't get screwed) then vastly reduce the number of available deductions.

2) Serious question: would he have the authority as president to do what he's proposing?

No.

Well Jay, as crazy as I seem, people can't live there because of corruption and no economics for them, unless you work at a resort for Americans who buy their drugs anyway....lets tax those Americans if they want to get high.   I would have invaded Mexico long before Iraq if I were POTUS.  Many resources in that country and if we can hang Sadaam on tv for having nothing to do with 9/11 we sure can clean shit up there. 

 

Part of the plan also to tax druggies is the illegals are here selling them and causing violence.  As POTUS I will invade Mexico, **** them all up, start drilling and it costs you to get high.  hell, Americans are going to do it anyway.  Viva La Mexico and their people will line up to go back.  Hell, I want to live there.

Interesting question. In America, general happiness within the populus is still pretty important. It is in the oligarchy's interest at this point to keep us busy with our monies and entertainment.

they are, but that doesn't mean ours isn't.

 

Politicians there seriously soak up (aka steal) all of the money going to fight the cartels, and a lot of the money going to education and welfare.  It is really bad.

Lower the tax rate on businesses of all sizes. More people will be hired, more goods and services will result, the economy will grow, and more tax revenues will stream in.

 

It tends to work that way.

 

isn't this the way reagan did it? it seemed to work out pretty decently for most people. he also reformed big portions of the tax code.

It's a good question and I am no expert on the subject but there are different degrees of corruption.  When we have to go over there to clean someones houses, mow their lawns and pick their produce to feed a family then ours will be more corrupt.
