Scioscia says Verlander 'smelled it' tonight

Recommended Posts

Real Scioscia postgame comment:

"We've seen Justin for a long time, and it seems like as the game goes on, historically, you really see him start to smell the end of it, and his stuff picks up, and that's what we saw tonight.  The only difference was we saw him when he might have gotten up to 100MPH when he smelled it, he wasn't quite there, but there's no doubt as that game went on, his stuff picked up, and he pitched a terrific game for those guys tonight."

When asked if it was a dominant pitching performance or if the Angels' offense was to blame.

"He pitched a good game for them, it's going to happen, we didn't get too many good looks at him, so we'll move on to tomorrow."

Ill never understand why some of you expect that he should/will publicly be strongly critical of the team. It's just not something the man does.

Not to mention were still in the wild card race.  Only a game back of the Twins and Rangers and we play the Twins 4 times in September, plus the Rangers about 6 or 7 times if I recall.  I dont think we'll be seeing Scioscia venting to the press anytime soon.

It's to bad Scioscia led teams usually come up small in those important type of games.

I wonder if he has a list of clichés on his clipboard in the dugout. He always looks at that thing, so he's probably conflicted about which line to use after the game.
