So congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (sounds like a daughter of the confederacy) shows up last minute and has a first class passenger bumped from her seat and then claims she did nothing wrong and the woman she bumped is a racist because she complained. Of course this envolves those fine people at United Airlines.

Nice work Texas, putting a real representative for the people in Congress.

How will voter IDs prevent this?

A government issued ID with unique (likely a biometric found on government badges or similar) cryptographic key combined with a voter generated salt (passphrase) to allow the voter to verify voting integrity.

Sounds suspect at best.  I do believe the feds should have the ability to set standards for voting processes in any election that sends anyone to DC.  I would think that same voting process would end up being used for all elections.

That does nothing to fix our antiquated voting machines.

Problem is, whatever party is in power used the flawed system to get elected, therefore there's no impetus to correct the flaws.

Well yes, the current voting machines would be incompatible with a two factor authentication solution. The inherent motivations for a political party and external forces to game the vote is the very reason why these forms of protection are necessary. Let alone the social consequences of identity theft in every other aspect of life going forward. The very well being of the country's economy (and thus everything else) depends on dramatic improvement of identity verification.

And again, they're the same reasons why neither party is serious about making any changes.

"Hey, we just won an election. Now let's go fix the problems that may have led to us being elected."

This doesn't negate the need.

I've never heard that theory. The party that's in power was fortunate to have older voting machines get them elected, so why fix 'em?
