This is huge. Astros just played out of their minds for a whole half-season. They'll have no wind for their sails now. Hope they enjoyed it while it lasted.

Pretty much. I've been calling for this for over a month now. The Astros just don't have a very good team. They will, just not now.

First, their offense is worse than ours. They've scored more runs, yes, but that has nothing to do with hitting better or timely hitting. Their .240 AVG is good for 26th in the majors and 14th in the AL. Their AVG with men in scoring position is .241, or 21st in the majors (11th in the AL). They are 21st in the majors with men on base (.252). They are 28th in the majors with a .226 AVG in high leverage situations. 22nd in medium leverage. Their team BABIP is low, but not ridiculously so, and it is in fact higher than the Angels'. Not to mention, they lead the majors in K% and have a good shot at breaking their own team K record which they set in 2013. So why in the world are they 4th in the majors in runs scored? Because all they do is hit homeruns. We make fun of the Angels for doing that, but this Astros team is basically 8 Adam Dunn's and a midget. They just go up there and swing for the fences, and it's finally starting to catch up to them.

In regards to pitching, their starting rotation is Dallas Keuchel and uhhh......*crickets*. Even with Keuchel, they have a middle of the pack rotation at best. Their bullpen has been fantastic, however their bullpen also has an unsustainable .237 BABIP (lowest in the majors).

So to sum it all up, the Astros really aren't that good. They've got a lot of young talent and I think they will be legit within the next 2-3 years, but right now it's all smoke and mirrors.

Halos on a roll and then - the All Star Break ---

bad time for a break -- Halos were rolling in a way where you can't wait for the next game.

Halos just three weeks ago were a team idling at just above and right at .500 -- they go a on a run, and in the weak AL West find themselves in first place (by a half game, but we'll take it) -- and most importantly TWO games up on Houston in the all important LOSS column (Houston has played three games more than we have and the Astros have TWO more losses than we do).

First place. Nice ring to it.

Now Stoneman needs to out a get us an OF bat at deadline time to make the stretch run........

First half positives --- the rotation -- the starting pitching (Santiago for one) have exceeded expectations.
