it did seem like a precaution, but agreed.  If its any serious injury I have little doubt they have very little chance without him.  Freddy came in and immediately gave up a goal.  Just to let everyone know he was back.

Freddy just like Gibson played well tonight, it's just the defense in front of him was horrible. In reality, their season depends on if they are able to wake up and score goals like they are capable off, not who is in net.

obviously they have to score more goals.  the offense has not been good...at all.  seeing as thats the case though, we also really cant afford the softies that Anderson is so inclined to give up.  Your point that the goalies are not the main issue is imo correct though.

I don't blame Freddie on that goal.  It wasn't hit hard.  But the guy practically caught it on his stick in midair and lacrossed it in.

Been told that Tokarski deal isn't response to Gibson getting hurt. Injury isn't considered to be serious. Day to day in literal sense.

He showed a 3-3-4 record in 10 games with the AHL’s St. John’s IceCaps. The Watson, Saskatchewan native was acquired by the Canadiens from the Tampa Bay Lightning in return for Cédrick Desjardins on February 14, 2013.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking also.  Dobin or Andersen on the move. 

 

Friberg is just deep deep down depth, so no real loss there.

This isn't Gibby injury related at all. Gibson is a full prticipant in practice today.

yea, seemed yesteday that Gibson was probably ok.  Getzlaf skated over said something to him, then he took off.  The game was looking bad at that point anyway.  Orders probably came down from Boudreau that he didn't want to push Gibson.  In terms of the trade, we gotta hope its a precursor to something else right !? Frieberg is a depth piece, but one that I liked.

The twitters people in Montreal seem to be real happy about this.  Seemingly did not care for Tokarski.  Scouting reports i've read seem to suggest that he is small for an NHL goalie.

5'10" he's very small. He's not an NHL caliber goalie. This goalie debacle is all on Murray. It's been one bad move after another ever since the Wiz trade.

Seems bad right now for sure. Friberg isn't some essential piece but he's a good skater with some offensive touch. Like I said I liked him and I imagine he'll be a fine 3rd or 4th liner in the NHL. I'm sure Tokarski is adequate to serve in the AHL, someone will need to play down there if any of the goalies are on he move. Just gotta be hopeful I guess.

10. Igor Bobkov, G

How acquired: 3rd round (No. 76), 2009 draft

Last season: 29 GP, 17-8-4, 2.04 GAA, .921 save percentage, Utah, ECHL

Due to a glut of high-end goaltending prospects, the 23-year-old had to go to the ECHL to find playing time. He did everything the Ducks asked and was able to get into 10 AHL games last season. With Gibson and Frederik Andersen the goaltending tandem in Anaheim, Bobkov will split time with veteran Jason LaBarbera in the AHL this season.

"He's got something you can't teach and that's size (6-5, 235)," Marchant said.

 

 

Although he's getting older.  He's probably in line for the AHL job.  Which makes this trade even odder.  If Dobin is really wanting to play in the NHL, maybe this is the precurser to do that?  We are approaching the halfway mark in the season.  And his salary is $2.25 million.  So half of that isn't a bad deal for a rental.  And we don't need to get much for him.  Maybe a late draft pick?
