The man hijacking the Republicans is talking about an impossible fence built by the Mexicans, repealing part of an amendment, and is famous for his "you're fired!" catchphrase. The man hijacking the Democrats is a socialist talking about the middle class and income equality.

Edge: libs.

Last time around, Rick Santorum was going gangbusters early on as well. And he is actually scarier than Trump. Then, once the primaries got going, he fell off the map quickly. Same will happen with Trump.

I think there is a group of people who are so disgusted with career politicians that Trump is refreshing. I get that. Gun to my head Id prefer him to Clinton or Bush just on principle. But to Glens point his supporters are closer to republicans than to democrats. The lefty nutjobs are all with Bern

it's going to be interesting to see how trump does in the iowa caucus heading into the primaries. if his poll numbers are still this high come january, and he does well in iowa, we'll know that people are taking him seriously.

i think on an anonymous phone poll it's easy to say, "trump? sure, why the hell not?"

I don't get how anyone could prefer him.  I would take literally anyone in the field over him.  He has zero foreign policy experience and I could see him completely ****ing this country into war or destroying our relationships with allies.

what a crock. there is nothing benign about stealing money from folks who are successful so the unsuccessful can have the same as the successful. There is nothing benign about taking money or property from citizens.

edge: nobody

I'm glad you're here to defend the successful.

It really does say something about the base level of the Republican party, doesn't it?

Hopefully, but I wouldn't put it past the shambles that is the Republican party.

What happened to the Republican party of classical liberalism, anyway?

Your "principle" is irrational and potentially dangerous.

LOL. I guess you missed some Sunday school after all, MT.

The Bushes, Clintons and Obamas have been sending kids to their deaths for 3 decades and stealing more and more of hardworking folks' money. Dangerous is continuing the cycle. Trump is an idiot but it's easy to see why a lot of people prefer him to the alternative.

People don't know what they like.  They like what they know.  'Merica is full of people who are like battered women saying, "But you don't understand.  He's really nice and funny when he's not wasted!"

But yeah ... closet racists and build a fence.  Let's keep focusing on that.

When those that have less have greater spending power our economy does best.  Money doesn't trickle down, it trickles up.

While this is true, in practice what tends to trickle down is the state's definition of the word "rich" as it relates to taxation. For example, in the state of California "rich" is defined a single person making more than $50K/year, and in the last few years the California Franchise Tax Board has dropped the definition of "ultra-rich" from $1M/yr to $250K/yr.

Don't get me wrong, a successful professional making $250K/year+ should be able to live very comfortably in even the most expensive cities, but such members of the 1% are hardly capable of buying off senators and manipulating the laws in their favor as commonly portrayed in the media.

I am glad to. I leave it to you to defend the ones who suck at their jobs.

So if you're not rich you suck at your job? Good to know. Please point out anywhere I've been the champion of people who suck at their jobs.
