He actually had a lot to say after the game yesterday about Shoemaker, none of it the typical MS canned commentary.  He went into detail into why he struggled, what he wasn't doing etc etc, he was almost critical of Shoemaker in that he plainly stated he cant continue to miss up, or struggle with his command the way he did..   If all he had said was the same usual stuff this thread might have some merit, but as it stands it's just noise.  Basically, this thread is guilty of what people are trying to pawn onto MS, the same tired tripe as always.

He came really close to saying just that.  No idea where this thread is coming from other than it's Fab doing his usual MS routine.

What is so difficult about a major league pitcher's release point, and why does it take months for him to find it? CJ's been looking for it for over a year now, and Shoemaker is having trouble locating his.

Made it more difficult for him to get away with stuff when his command was off like it was last night. The drop in him surprises me more than with Weav(that's been happening for years) but it's still not encouraging to see. Look at any of his starts last year and you'll see quite a few 92-93 MPH FB's. Now....he'll peak at 90 MPH maybe 4-5 times during the course of a game, settling in at 87-89 MPH. He can still work and be effective with that, but he has less margin for error.

Last night it wasn't so much about velocity but that his fastball was consistently up in the zone.

 

He gets the ball down and it would have been a much better outcome.

Agree. Issue was he had no command of any of his pitches and routinely fell behind in the count on too many hitters. Lot of his offspeed stuff was hung in the zone. Just didn't have it at all last night
